Two officers and a suspect were taken to a hospital following a physical confrontation at a Northern Westchester residence that resulted in police shooting a man twice, authorities said.

The incident began on Monday, May 20 just before 12:30 p.m., when authorities responded to a home on Hallock Place in Armonk to help a 78-year-old woman who needed medical help, according to the North Castle Police Department.

The woman was later treated and taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance. While at the residence, officers also realized that a 38-year-old man was also at the home and determined he had two outstanding arrest warrants, police said.

While trying to detain the man, officers got into a physical fight with him. During the confrontation, the suspect grabbed a knife and attacked one of the officers with it. The second officer then fired two shots at the man with his duty pistol, striking him twice, according to the department.

The suspect and the two officers were both taken to area hospitals after the incident. All three received non-life-threatening injuries.

The male suspect's name has not yet been released by the department.

The Westchester County District Attorney's Office and the Westchester County Police Department are now investigating the incident. This investigation is still ongoing.
